Halina Konopacka (1900-1989)
Halina Konopacka was mainly an Olympic athlete and she became famous for this. Representing Polish national colors, she received many sports awards. As the first Pole, she won a gold medal at the Olympic Games, which took place then in Amsterdam in 1928. She won the medal in the disc throw competition, which she added to a record 39.62 meters, thus breaking her previous record from 1926 from the Women's World Games in Göteborg.
"I felt the disk slip out to my fingers, swimming, not knowing where from, enter a long flight. I was with him on this flight ... For a long time ... I did not have the strength to enjoy the victory "- Such words were spoken by our hero after the triumph in Amsterdam.

In the beating of the above records, Halina Konopacka helped a huge talent, which through arduous work and training gave her the final triumph. Tak Halina Konopacka mentions her beginnings with athletics:
"It just started with a passion for movement, a passion for nature. Curiosity told me to quit, run, try. Simply from the joy of life, from adolescence, from adventure and from all that sports should consist of. As I took the disc, it turned out that after a few times the Polish record was broken. Well then they told me to train a little. And so it started "
Halina Konopacka had Tatar roots and came from a wealthy bourgeois family, in which sport was treated as "religion", which is why Halina was playing tennis in her youth, riding a horse or swimming.
Apart from international successes, Halina Konopacka can boast of many triumphs against the national background. She was a 27-time Polish champion in shot put, discus and javelin throw, high jump, 3rd and 5th fight and 4x75 m, 4x100 m, 4x200 m relay. It can be said that Halina Konopacka was the best Polish athlete and Olympian.
