Halina Konopacka (1900-1989)
Poetry
Halina Konopacka's poems (exactly 17) were collected in the poetry volume „Któregoś dnia” published in Warsaw in 1929 by F. Hoesicka Bookstore and then twice resumed (in 1994 and in 2008).
Despite all the poems she wrote, in none of them she mentioned her greatness, her successes or wisdom. So what did she write about? On matters important to every human being: the fatherland and the landscape of childhood, puberty and love, passing time and happy death. Halina Konopacka's poetry is a kind of autobiography, because each poem reveals to the reader another element of her character and personality.
A brilliant discobolus sketched a picture of itself only as an image of a woman - ordinary, full of love and hope, in addition full of paradoxes: sensitive and at the same time strong like no other, proud - of being Polish and modest - keeping her happiness only for herself.
Halina Konopacka's poetry is swaying between neo-romanticism and the interwar period, but none of them is completely in line. On the one hand, the author expresses delight with nature, believes in the power of art and her deeds, but does not elevate herself above other people. On the other hand, some poems are happy, innovative, and they express hope. Above all, however, they share one feature - above-average patriotism and love for the homeland. In addition to the poems, the discus was also expressed in deeds, so it can be assumed that she fulfilled the assumptions made in her own works.
