Hipolit Cegielski - leader of organic work, pioneer of the industry in Wielkopolska; born in 1813 in Ławki near Trzemeszno. He studied at gimnazjum Św. Marii Magdaleny in Poznań. After obtaining the title of doctor of philosophy at the University of Berlin, he became a teacher in his junior high school. During the teaching period, he was particularly focused on scientific work. He was released for not complying with the anti-Polish order of the Prussian authorities. He contributed to the establishment of Hipolit Cegielski factories. He gave rise to 'Gazeta Polska' and 'Dziennik Poznański'. He was politically active. For many years he represented the city of Poznań toghether with other extraordinary figures. He was particularly active in the Scientific Assistance Society providing scholarships for Polish youth. He was the president of the Central Economic Society which united local economic societies. He died in 1868 in Poznań. He was buried in now non-existent Święty Marcin cemetery. The memorial obelisk together with ground from the burial site was placed at the cemetery devoted to meritorious citizens of Wielkopolska located at the intersection of Księcia Józefa and Święty Wojciech streets in Poznań (on Swięty Wojciech Hill in Poznań).
